Woman poses as property owner, puts up land for sale
Gurgaon: A woman has been accused of selling another woman’s property by fudging documents. The accused committed the crime by posing as the property owner, the police said on Saturday.
The crime came to the fore when the son of the victim, Monnie Soni, found out that their property was on sale.
The plot number 224, Block G, Palam Vihar, measuring 300 sqm was purchased by Monnie from Ansal Properties and Industries Ltd in 2002. The property has a market value of several crores.
“To our surprise, our plot was up for sale in the market. Upon investigation, it came to our notice that a woman impersonating my mother executed a transfer deed in favour of a non-existent ‘son’ named Arun Kumar Soni in June 2019,” victim’s son, Dinesh Soni, told the police.
An officer said the transfer document of the property is in the name of one Madan Lal Soni, who is named as Monnie’s husband. The name of the transferee on the paper reads as Arun Kumar Soni, who is named as Monnie’s son.
“My father’s name is Mangi Lal Soni. My mother has two sons, me and Dilip Soni,” said Dinesh. He added that “The land was sold to a person with the name Manoj Kumar Sharma, a resident of Noida.” He added, “My mother never sold or transferred the property to anyone.”
A case was registered against the accused woman under section 419 (cheating by personation), 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery), 468 (Forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using forged documents) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC at Palam Vihar police station.
Several similar property frauds have been reported in Gurgaon in the last two years. Earlier, the crime branch has busted a gang with the arrest of three members. The gang had sold properties worth Rs 500 crore.
