Building plan of govt official’s house revoked over illegal structure
Gurgaon: After TOI reported that the district horticulture officer illegally extended the basement of his house in DLF-1 by allegedly encroaching upon government land, the department of town and country planning (DTCP) has revoked the occupation certificate and the building plan. The house owner has been directed to dismantle the structure within a week and the architect has been served a show-cause notice, officials said.
The 150 square yard plot in controversy (G-18/39) in DLF Phase-1 was bought in a re-sale in the name of Shabnam, the wife of Deen Mohammad, the district horticulture officer of Gurgaon, in 2016. Construction started on the plot in 2017 after getting approval of the building plan from DTCP. A year later, DTCP issued the OC, which mentioned a basement of 52.028 sqm only. However, the basement has been extended over another 100 square yards on a plot of land that belongs to MCG.
Officials said the OC for the building was issued under self-certification policy. During application, the owner had submitted all drawings and relevant undertakings that the structure conformed to building norms.
DTP (enforcement) RS Batth said, “Occupation certificate and any other approvals granted to the residential building stand cancelled.
The architect has been given seven days to explain his position as to why he should not be blacklisted by the department.”
