Builders' body CREDAI activates consumer redress forum to tackle buyers’ ire
In the face of rising pressure from buyers’ disputes, Credai NCR has stepped up its conflict resolution and consumer redress platform.
The body has announced that for small disputes, buyers can directly lodge them on the Credai website for a fair hearing and resolution by the builders federation. The complaints are processed through internal meetings and discussions to settle matters in buyers’ interests.
Credai NCR organized its 48th consumer grievance redress forum this week in which 105 complaints by buyers of various projects were resolved. Till date Credai NCR has received 3248 complaints. Of this, 3066 are closed. Presently, 182 cases are being processed.
Commenting on the 48th CGRF, Pankaj Bajaj, President, Credai NCR said, "In the present scenario when buyers are worried about their voices being heard, CGRF brings focus back to the customers and ensures speedy resolution of grievances with no costs to consumer. CGRF is an effort from Credai to make sure that the customers get justice in case of complaints and they do not have knock on various doors to get their complaints resolved. Many disputes arise due to poor communication and lack of trust. CGRF bridges the trust gap and resolves the differences."
The grievances were heard by the office bearers of Credai, Getambar Anand, Chairman; Jaxay Shah, President, Pankaj Bajaj, President Credai-NCR and Pankaj Goel, Secretary Credai-NCR and the Acting Chief Justice of Indore High Court (retired) SK Dubey.
Credai has stepped in to resolve the woes of homebuyers who are suffering delays in delivery of flats and are now faced with losing out to secured creditors under insolvency procedure.
Getamber Anand, Chairman Credai confirmed the offer to intermediate in the case of delayed projects. He said "Credai has long stood to safeguard customer interests and has the requisite technical and financial depth to revive stalled projects. More importantly, Credai enjoys the trust of both homebuyers and financial institutions which is a prerequisite for mutually acceptable solution." The basic ingredients of the solution have been submitted to Government of Uttar Pradesh.
