Land boost for Metro link to Manesar industry hub
Huda on December 29 transferred 147 acres of land to the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) for around Rs 660 crore for the development of a Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) that will connect Gurgaon and Bawal industrial area through an elevated Metro project.
The corridor will run along the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) and Global City project. The land will be utilised to develop a communication and transport zone, which will be used as a depot or logistics hub for the project, officials said.
"More land needed to lay tracks will be acquired along the route," said a HSIIDC official, requesting anonymity.
According to sources, the project earlier belonged to Huda but was transferred to HSIIDC. In the first phase, the Metro corridor will connect Huda City Centre Metrostation to Panchgaon Chowk through SPR and Global City. In phase 2, it will stretch up to Bawal from Panchgaon along NH-8. "The work on the project is slated to start in March and given the current pace of approvals, it is likely to be on time," said the official.
The project is being developed in partnership between HSIIDC and DMICDC (Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Ltd). The project will be developed under public-private partnership model and cost Rs 3,500 crore in land and equity. The concept plan of the project has been approved and around 140 acres have been acquired for a Metro depot near the Global City Project for the purpose.
