Now, residents can file complaints against discom in Gurgaon
Gurgaon: Approaching the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) for any grievance will now be easier for the residents of Gurgaon and Faridabad as the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) has completely shifted the head office of the discom’s Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum to the city from Hisar.
In June 2020, the HERC appointed Sanjeev Chopra as the chairman of the consumer forum and issued directions to shift its head office from Hisar to Gurgaon, keeping in mind the highest consumer base in the two NCR cities.
Earlier, in the absence of a proper office in Gurgaon, there was delay in redress of complaints resulting in many consumers taking the matter to court instead of the forum.
“Though we have been hearing all complaints in Gurgaon since June last year, consumers from Faridabad and Gurgaon can now easily approach us in this city only. We have shifted all the records and files to our new Sector 16 office,” Chopra told TOI.
DHBVN has 11 circles in the state, including Gurgaon-1, Gurgaon-2, Faridabad, Palwal, Narnaul, Rewari, Bhiwani, Hisar, Fatehabad, Sirsa and Jind, which cater to more than 37 lakh consumers. A monthly meeting has been scheduled for each of the circle to hear consumer grievances.
Out of over 37 lakh consumers of DHBVN, Faridabad circle has 5.80 lakh consumers, followed by Gurgaon with 5.72 lakh. There are 3.44 lakh consumers in Palwal circle, 2.87 lakh in Rewari and 2.52 in Narnaul.
The forum will deal with complaints pertaining to billing, metering, voltage, quality, reliability, efficiency, safety, violation of HERC orders, interruptions in power supply disconnection and reconnection, and it will ensure easy access to redressal mechanism, officials said.
“HERC gave the direction to shift the head office as most of the complaints are from the NCR cities. This will enable smooth functioning and redressal of public grievances,” said an HERC spokesperson.
