Gurgaon: A police station for new sectors located along the Dwarka Expressway was inaugurated on Thursday.
This police station has been relocated from its earlier location of Kherki Daula, where it was operating from a small rented building, to Vatika India Next in Sector 83.
This will be the first police station operating in the new sectors along the expressway. The areas falling under its jurisdiction include sectors 77, 78, 79, 80, 81 and 86, parts of sectors 76 and 90, Rampura, Nakhdola, Kakrola, Bhangrola, Bar Gujjar, Naurangpur, Sikhopur, Sikhopur Phaad, Sikanderpur, R-zone, Kherki Daula, Nawada Fatehpur and Bada. The two-storeyed police station building has been developed by Vatika Group and is spread over an area of 10,000 sqft.
Gurgaon police commissioner KK Rao inaugurated the new building on Thursday. “It is equipped with all modern amenities and will give a huge relief to the residents of the nearby areas,” Rao said.
Speaking on the occasion, Gaurav Bhalla, MD of Vatika group said, “An operational police station in the township will go a long way in further strengthening the law and order implementation.”
Residents have welcomed the move. “This police station is centrally located, and will help residents approach police easily,” said Rao Dharamveer, a resident of Mapsko Casabella, Sector 82. “Women will be more comfortable in visiting the police station as it has women staff at the help desk,” said Mamta Yadav, president of The Seven Lamps RWA in Vatika India Next. Residents, however, also demanded the construction of an approach road to the police station.
