GURUGRAM: The health department Gurugram on Thursday submitted a new building plan to the Haryana government for the upcoming 500-bed Civil hospital in place of the existing one in Civil Lines.

The matter was taken up during a meeting attended by chief principal secretary to the CM D S Dhesi, deputy commissioner Amit Khatri, chief medical officer Virender Yadav and ACS, education, Mahavir Singh.

The new plan includes a diagnostic area, OPDs, injection room, nebulisation room and an immunisation room, as well as microbiology, clinical pathology, molecular and biochemistry units. Moreover, apart from a hematology unit, there will be blood component preparation and storage areas, a laboratory for blood group serology and a transfusion centre too.

The new facility will also have a haemophilia and thalassemia day care centre, psychiatry, de-addiction and mental health centres, labour room complex, ICUs, an operation theatre, TB centre, Ayush block, ambulance office, and separate surgical, orthopaedic, cancer, burns and paediatrics wards. Residential areas will also be earmarked for the Gurugram civil surgeon, the principal medical officer and other doctors.

As per the plan, the old hospital site, which is spread over seven acres, will be expanded to nine acres by using a portion of land from an adjoining government senior secondary boys’ school. However, the project has been stuck as the land acquisition process was delayed.

On Thursday, the education department was directed to provide a no-objection certificate to the health department within seven days to enable it to use the two acres of land that is yet to be transferred for the building expansion.

Dr Yadav said the health department has submitted the scope of work for the new building and is waiting for approval. The budget will be approved after the government gives the plan a go-ahead. Last year, Rs 260 crore had been approved for the revamp. This is likely to go up with the addition of new components.
