News: Gurugram civic body seals multi storey building in Jharsa over unpaid property tax-31-10-2025

GURUGRAM: MCG sealed a multi-storey residential building in Jharsa on Thursday over unpaid property tax of Rs 67 lakh. Officials said more actions against major defaulters are planned under the ongoing recovery drive.

The action came on the direction of zonal taxation officer Rajesh Yadav, who said the property owner was asked to deposit the tax by sending notices several times, but despite repeated notifications, payment was not made, and then MCG sealed the property.

MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said, "Our municipal corporation is continuing action against tax defaulters. To boost the revenue of the municipal corporation and improve civic amenities, it is the responsibility of every property owner to deposit tax on time. Those who do not pay tax despite repeated notices will face sealing, attachment, and recovery action. I appeal to all property owners to deposit their tax as soon as possible and cooperate in building a clean, strong, and self-reliant city."

During a virtual meeting chaired by Vikas Gupta, commissioner and secretary of the Urban Local Bodies department, officials stated that the civic body has collected property tax of more than Rs 261 crore so far. Instructions were also issued to tax branch officials that no laxity be shown in tax collection work.While addressing the meeting, Gupta said that strict action is being taken against tax defaulters. So far, 17 properties have been sealed, which owed tax arrears of crores. He said that the sealing campaign will be intensified in the coming days to ensure tax collection from all defaulting property owners.
