A city-based builder and its directors have been booked for cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy.

Noida-based realty firm Assotech Limited has alleged that Vatika Limited entered into an agreement with it for setting up a group housing society on 10 acres of land in Gurgaon in 2012. "Assotech paid around Rs 133 crore to Vatika, but they did not honour the agreement," the Noida firm said in a police complaint.

According to the complaint, Vatika had claimed it owns a 10-acre plot in Sector 88B. "When Assotech demanded land be cleared for development, the accused told us to forget the money. They issued threats to life if we asked for the money in the future," said complainant Rajeev Srivastava, an Assotech representative.

On the directions of a Noida court, where complainant had filed a petition seeking registration of FIR, a case was filed against Vatika and its directors under sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 467 (forgery), 468 (punishment for forgery), 471 (using a forged document), 504 (breach of peace), 506 (threat to cause death or grievous hurt) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC at Sector 10A police station on Monday

A Vatika spokesperson denied the allegations and said Assotech instead owes them money, including payment for the land as well as the fees deposited by Vatika on its behalf to DTCP.

"Vatika had filed a case against Assotech in the Delhi high court in 2017 for recoveries of money. By misrepresenting to the court of Noida, the ex-management of Assotech has secured an order to file an FIR, which is both frivolous and baseless," the representative said.

Another FIR for cheating Another FIR was registered against Vatika and its directors in Kherki Daula on Monday for allegedly cheating a couple of Rs 36 lakh.
