GURUGRAM: After the failure of its low-cost Ashiana housing scheme for the poor in Gurugram, HSVP has tweaked the plan for developing a similar project in Pataudi’s Sector 1.

Around eight acres of land earmarked for developing flats under the Ashiana scheme for the economically weaker section (EWS) will be now converted into a plotted residential society. HSVP is planning to raise around Rs 200 crore from the sale of over 160 plots and commercial space, officials have said.
As per the plan, HSVP will develop 162 residential plots — 96 plots of six marla (1,633.5 sq ft) and 66 plots of four marla (1,089 sq ft). The colony will have 9, 10 and 12 metre roads. It will have two parks of half an acre each, apart from a market on 0.30 acres and a primary school on 0.25 acres.

“We have changed the planning and now a residential plotted colony will be developed in Pataudi over the land reserved for the Ashiana scheme. The plots will be auctioned and one can purchase these plots through online auction,” said estate officer-1 of HSVP (Gurugram) Vikash Dhanda.

The low-cost housing project was approved by HSVP in October 2009 under its Ashiana project of its integrated housing and slum dwellers programme (IHSDP) to provide hygienic living space with basic amenities to slum dwellers.

Under the project, HSVP constructed around 9,990 low-cost units in the urban areas of the state, including Gurugram and Faridabad, with allotment preference given to encroachers of government land who had approached courts for regularisation of long-existing colonies and providing alternative shelters before eviction.

A total of 1,088 units were constructed in Gurugram at a cost of Rs 40 crore, the first lot of 560 units was constructed in 2010 while another 528 units were constructed in 2014-15 but not a single flats have been allotted to date, mainly due to controversy over allotment eligibility.
