News: Gurugram: Property owners get DTCP notices for violating norms-21-01-2021

The department has warned the property owners to submit their replies regarding violations within a week, failing which their properties will be sealed.

GURUGRAM: Around 50 properties in licenced colonies, including DLF 2 and 3, South City 1 and 2, Sushant Lok 1 and others, have been served notices by the town and country planning department for unauthorised construction and illegal commercial activities.

The department has warned the property owners to submit their replies regarding violations within a week, failing which their properties will be sealed.

The department had been getting frequent complaints against property owners, who after procuring OCs from the government and making changes in the buildings for commercial activities. Gyms, salons, showrooms, clinics, educational institutions and others were allegedly being run from many residential buildings.

Many residents also complained that there were numerous multi-storey PGs in the area, which were disturbing the demand-supply ratio on many fronts such as electricity, water, parking space.

District town planner (planning) RS Batth said, “Residential buildings, which have been flouting norms, are being identified by the department and action will be taken against them. No illegal commercial activity will be allowed in residential areas.”

Assistant town planner Ashish Sharma said a team of junior engineers had surveyed six licenced colonies and prepared a list of properties where violations were noticed. “The list has been handed over to district town planner, who has issued show-cause notices to the owners and directed them to submit their replies within a week,” he said.

He also said that there is provision of using 25 per cent space on the ground floor for activities like clinic, lawyer and other offices therefore these properties have been directed to furnish any permission documents which they might have received from the concerned departments. "In case they fail to furnish relevant documents, the department will cancel their occupation certificates" he said.

Batth said the director DTCP has strict instructions to the the officials of planning and enforcement wings to carry out surveys throughout the licenced colonies and ensure that all commercial activities running from the residential premises are shut as they are against the norms.
