News: Dwarka Expressway Rail Overbridge To Be Opened By May-end-20.05.2017

Dwarka Expressway rail overbridge to be opened by May-end

The much-awaited railway overbridge (ROB) on the Northern Peripheral Road (NPR) at Basai will be opened for public by May-end. The Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) engineers are giving final touches to the ROB — putting in cat’s eyes, blinkers and signage etc. NPR, also known as Dwarka Expressway, was an 18km stretch in Gurgaon, before it was taken over by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and extended to 27km starting from Shivmurti near NH-8.

“We have updated the Chandigarh headquarters about ROB. From our side, the ROB is ready and can be opened for traffic. We hope Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar will inaugurate the ROB latest by month-end,” said Yashpal Yadav, administrator Huda.

The ROB has been constructed on the Delhi-Gurgaon-Rewari railway track that cuts NPR near Basai water treatment plant.

On the NPR, commuters from Dwarka and New Palam Vihar and headed towards Kherki Daula toll and Manesar will have to cross the ROB near Basai. Sectors such as 99, 88-A, 88-B are located right to the ROB and sectors 37-C, 37-D, 36-A, 36-B are on the left.

The plan to construct the ROB was chalked out as part of NPR as the railway track and a drain were coming in the way.

“The 1,300-metre, six-lane ROB would give seamless connectivity. The railway track is separating Huda sectors 81 to 98 from sectors 99 to 115. Now, commuting between Manesar, Pataudi, Gurgaon and Delhi via NPR would be easy,” Yadav said.

Khattar had inspected the ROB as well as the existing railway bridge — located 300 metres away — in April and ordered that the ROB be opened by May 15. A team of officials has assigned to prepare the ROB for inauguration.

Meanwhile, Huda has put barricades at both ends of the ROB to prevent public from using it. Security personnel have also been deployed.

“I have booked a flat in Sector 102. I usually come to see the progress of the project. The construction and delivery of flats depend on the completion of the ROB,” said Sushil Gaurav, a homebuyer living in Sector 9.

However, NPR’s last leg of around 600 metres, towards Kherki Daula side, is incomplete. “We have resolved the litigation holding up that portion. We will start construction in June,” the administrator said.
